US warns Israel of 'major insurgency' if there is 'full-on' assault on Rafah

22 May 2024; MEMO: The US, on Wednesday, warned about a lack of a “concrete plan” regarding post-war Gaza, adding that Israel will inherit a “major insurgency” if it moves forward with a full assault into the southern Gaza city of Rafah, where 1.3 million Palestinians have been sheltering, Anadolu Agency reports.

“If Israel goes full on into Rafah to eliminate the remaining battalions, as they put it, the problem will not be solved,” Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, told House of Representatives.

Washington’s reaction appeared to signal US dismay that the three European nations announced intent to proceed with unilateral recognition of a Palestinian State, which does not exist in practice.

USA: Indian-origin man in US shot and killed by San Antonio police

NEW YORK: A 42-year-old Indian-origin man in the US was shot and killed by police in San Antonio after he struck two officers with his vehicle as they were trying to arrest him in connection with an aggravated assault case against a woman.

Sachin Kumar Sahoo was pronounced deceased at the scene after police officer Tyler Turner shot at him on April 21 in San Antonio, a city in Texas.

26 April 2024; MEMO: Senator Bernie Sanders, on Thursday, slammed the Israeli Premier’s remarks that denounced pro-Palestinian protests that have roiled US college campuses, Anadolu Agency reports.

“No, Mr. Netanyahu. It is not anti-Semitic or pro-Hamas to point out that, in a little over six months, your extremist government has killed 34,000 Palestinians and wounded more than 77,000 – 70 per cent of whom are women and children,” Sanders said in a statement.

Tehran, IRNA — Over 100 pro-Palestinian protesters have been arrested on the campus of New York’s Columbia University as police cleared an encampment set up by students demonstrating against Israel’s war on Gaza, media outlets have reported.

Several students involved in the protest said they were also suspended from Columbia University and its associate institution, Barnard College. They include Isra Hirsi, who is the daughter of Ilhan Omar, a Democrat in the United States House of Representatives, Al Jazeera reported on Friday.
