27 Feb 2020; MEMO: The Russian Foreign Ministry ruled out the possibility of achieving a permanent settlement in the Middle East as a result of the US drafted Middle East “peace plan” to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict dubbed the “deal of the century”.

Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said: “The instability between Israel and Palestine is one of the main factors for instability in the region.”

New Delhi, Feb 27 (PTI) Seven more fatalities have been recorded at three hospitals, taking the total death toll in the northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law to 34 on Thursday, according to senior officials.

Till Wednesday night, the total count of casualties had stood at 27, 25 of those at GTB Hospital in Dilshad Garden.

NEW DELHI, Feb 27 (NNN-PTI) – The death toll in the communal violence in the Indian capital rose to 27 and more than 200 were injured on Wednesday evening.

While 25 deaths have been confirmed at Guru Teg Bahadur hospital, the other two deaths were reported at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan hospital.

“The death toll has risen to 27 as three more succumbed during medical treatment,” Dr Sunil Kumar, of Guru Teg Bahadur hospital told media.

The dead include a policeman and a junior-level official of Intelligence Bureau.

26 Feb 2020; MEMO: Two Libyan families have filed a lawsuit against the head of eastern army, General Khalifa Haftar, accusing him of torture and committing “war crimes”.

Renowned American lawyer, Kevin Carroll, who represents the Al-Suyids and the Al-Krshinys families, said his clients were tortured in Libya and had members of their families killed by Haftar’s forces, adding that “Haftar will pay the price of the crimes he had committed”.

Betul (MP), Feb 26 (PTI) A 14-year-old girl died on Wednesday after immolating herself, alleging rape and harassment by three persons in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district, police said.

The Class 8 student poured kerosene and immolated herself at her home in Devgaon village on Tuesday evening and died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nagpur, additional superintendent of police Shraddha Joshi said.

New Delhi, Feb 25 (PTI) The death toll rose to nine on Tuesday in the violence over the amended citizenship law that has rocked northeast Delhi, GTB Hospital authorities said.

Four people were declared brought dead by doctors at the hospital on Tuesday, they said.

Mumbai, Feb 25 (PTI) In a trenchant observation, the Bombay High Court said on Tuesday that there has not been any "effective progress" in the trial of 2008 Malegaon blast case where BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur is an accused.

The HC also asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to explain the delay.

GENEVA, Feb 25 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Representatives from Libya’s warring sides have suspended their participation in United Nations-sponsored peace talks aimed at bringing an end to more than 10 months of fighting.

The move came despite assurances by a spokesperson for the world governing body that negotiations would still go ahead.

Ahmaida Erouhma, who leads the eastern side’s Geneva committee, said his faction’s refusal to take part in the negotiations is due to the UN’s approval of only eight of 13 names his side put forward for the delegation.
